1) This is visible in last part of the question,
When daughter = 24
& Mom = 48
Then, 24 * 2 = 48
2) Peter = 35
Son = 10
35-x = 6(10-x)
35-x = 60-6x
6x - x = 60 - 35
5x = 25
x = 25/5
x = 5
So, 5 years ago is the answer.

the daughter will be 24 and the mother would be 48 because 24*2=48.
