There are many ways, so answers may vary.
12+8x (obviously)
You can factor it
3(4+2x)
You can think of equations for the answer to be 12
12+(6*2)
etc.

2(4x + 6)
4(2x + 3)
^distributive property. if you solve them you will find that they equal 8x + 12
