Formula for the amount of heat given off or absorbed during a temperature change

1) Delta E = q + w
OR
2) q = m * c * Delta T

Where:
Delta E = The change in energy
q = Heat given of or absorbed
w = work
m = mass
c = specific heat
Delta T = The change in temperature
