On average, 6th period and 7th period have the same number of students show up virtually. 3rd period has three more than 7th period and 2nd period has twice as many as 6th period. If I have a total of 23 students show up remotely throughout the day. How many students show up in 3rd period ?

Let the number of students in 6th period = x

So, the number of students in 7th period = x

3rd period has three more than 7th period

so, the number of students in 3rd period = x + 3

2nd period has twice as many as 6th period.

so, the number of students in 2nd period = 2x

Total students = 23

So,

`x+x+(x+3)+2x=23`

solve for x:

So, the number of sudents in 3rd period = x + 3 = 7
