You could set the problem up in a formula
750*x=48.75
x is the sales tax rate. Divide 750 from each side to get x by its self.
X=0.065
Once you divide 48.75 by 750, you will get the 0.065, which is a rate of 6.5%

48.75 / 750 = 0.065
0.065 * 100% = 6.5%
Check:
750 * 6.5% = 750 * 6.5/100 = 750 * 65/1000 = 48750/1000 = 48.75
