So we have;

y = x% of sales + base salary

for 849 sales and 417.92 , we have

417.92 = 8.49x + b •••••••(i)

for 1011 sales and 430.88 servings

430.88 = 10.11x + b ••••••(ii)

Subtract i from ii

12.96 = 1.62x

x = 12.96/1.62

x = 8

To get b, we substitute

430.88 = 10.11(8) + b

b = 430.88 - 10.11(8) = 350

Commission is 8% , base earnings is $350

So for total sales of 948;

y = 8% of 948 + 350

y = $425.84
