  • When a solid exists in different crystalline form with a different physical properties is called as allotropy.

  • There are basic 5 allotropic form of carbon which are diamond, graphite, fullerene, carbon nanotubes and graphene.

  • In diamond each carbon atom is sp³ hybridized.
