The electron donor in the reaction is the Zn and as a result it is oxidised to Zn²⁺. A move from an oxidation state of 0 to 2 (Oxidation is the Loss of Electron)

Answer: Zinc element was the electron donor

Step-by-step explanation:

Zn(s)+Cu+2(aq)\rightarrow Zn^(+2)(aq)+Cu(s)

In the given reaction, the zinc metal is getting oxidized to zinc ion by loosing 2 electrons and copper ion are getting reduced to copper by gaining 2 electrons.

Zn\rightarrow Zn^(2+)+2e^-

Cu^(2+)+2e^-\rightarrow Cu

So, in the given reaction zinc is an element which donates its electrons.Hence, electron donor was the zinc element.
