Subtract 1 from both sides
2x=-16
Divide 2 on both sides
Final Answer: x=-8

2x + 1 = -15
Subtract (1) from both sides.
2x = (-15-1)
2x = -16
Divide both sides by (2) so that (x) is by itself.
x = -8
