Then according to the given question we have,


x+y=38...............(1)\\\\10x+5y=220

Multiplying equation (1) by 10 on both sides, we get


10x+10y=380..............................(3)

Now, subtract equation (2) from (3), we get


5y=160\\\\\Rightarrow\ y=32

Hence, there were 32 five dollars bills in deposit.
