What is an equation of a parabola with the given vertex and focus?

vertex: (-2,5); focus: (-2,6)

I really need someone to explain how to do this. I am so confused.

So the formula y= ax^2 first you must flip the equation so that gives us ax^2= y
Then divide both sides by x^2 giving us ax^2/x^2 = y/x^2 so we would end up with a= y/x^2
