Please answer the question!

2C2H2(g) + 5O2(g) → 4CO2(g) + 2H2O(g)

This is a balanced equation for the combustion of acetylene (C2H2). How many moles of oxygen(O2) are required to react completely with 1.0 mole of acetylene?

Question 3 options:

5.0

2.5

Let five moles of oxygen are required to react with 2 moles of acetylene. So, doing a rule of three, we are going to obtain :

5 moles of Oxygen => 2 moles of C2H2

? O2 => 1 mole of C2H2

1.0 mole C2H2×(5 moles O2/2 moles of C2H2) = 2.5 moles of O2

So, the answer is 2.5 moles of oxygen are required to react with 1 mole of acetylene.
