x²=-11x+4
make equal to 0
add 11x-4 to both sides
x²+11x-4=0
factor
you can't
use quadratic formula
for
ax²+bx+c=0

x= (-b+/- √(b^2-4ac) )/(2a)

1x²+11x-4=0
a=1
b=11
c=-4

x= (-11+/- √(11^2-4(1)(-4)) )/(2(1))

x= (-11+/- √(121+16) )/(2)

x= (-11+/- √(135) )/(2)

x= (-11+/- 3√(15) )/(2)

x= -5.5+/- 1.5√(15)

x= -5.5+ 1.5√(15) or
x= -5.5- 1.5√(15)
