The formula for the volume (V) of the cone is

V=(1)/(3)\pi r^2h

Given

\begin{gathered} r=(diameter)/(2)=(3in)/(2)=1.5in \\ h=6in \end{gathered}

Therefore,

V=(1)/(3)\pi(1.5)^2(6)=14.13716\approx14.14

Hence, the maximum volume is

V=14.14in^3
