You buy a new Chromebook online so you don't have to pay sales tax. The laptop retails for $299. It is marked 25% off and you have an additional coupon for 30% off. What is the final price you pay? Round your answer to the nearest cent.

Solution

For this case we know that the original price is $ 299

And we have a 25% off with an additional 30% off

Basically we can assume that the 299$ include the 25% off so then

So then the final % respect to the first discount would be:

100 -30 = 70%

And we can find the final price with the following operation:

(299)/(100)=(x)/(70)
x=70\cdot(299)/(100)=209.30
