Theo bakes oat bars in a pan that measures 8 in. long, 10 1/2 in. wide, and 2 in. tall.

He decides to cut bars that measure 4 in. by 1 1/2 in. by 2 in.

Volume of the pan = Length x width x height = 168 in^3
Volume of bar = L x W x H = 12 in^3
Then you should divide volume of pan/volume of bar
168/12 = 14 BARSSZZZZZZZ

Answer:

14 bars have been cut.

Explanation:

The dimensions of the oat bars in the pan is

length = 8 in.

Width = 10.5 in.

Height = 2 in.

Therefore volume of the oat bar is

V = length×Width×height = 8×10.5×2 = 168 in.³

Theo cuts the bars with the dimensions as

length = 4 in.

width = 1.5 in.

height = 2 in.

Therefore volume of these bars = 4×1.5×2 = 12 in³

So the number of bars cut from the original oat bars will be = Total volume of the oat bar / volume of the oat bar cut from the main bar

Number of bars = 168/12 = 14

Answer is Theo cuts 14 bars form the original bar.
