Area: To find area, you follow a certain formula. (You can look up formulas online, but are few examples are: Area= Length x Width x Height or Area= Base x Height.) You multiply the sides based on the formula. (So, say I had a cube and wanted to find the area. The length = 5, the width = 3, and the height = 8. I would multiply these together to get an answer of 120 and whatever unit of measurement it is squared.)
Perimeter: To find perimeter, you add all of the sides together. It's a simple concept once you get the hang of it. (For example, say I had a square with one side that's 7 feet. Since squares are the same size all around, I just need to add 7 four times. It could also be done as 7 x 4. That give me an answer of 28 feet.)
