-1/4 (x-12)+1/2(x+2)=4+x

Simplify the equation.

-1/4x + 3 + 1/2x + 1 = 4 + x

Add like terms.

(-1/4x+1/2x) + (3+1) = 4 + x

(1/4x) + (4) = 4 + x

Move (x) onto the left side of the equal sign, and move (4) to the right side.

So, you're basically subtracting 4 from both sides, as well as subtracting x from both sides.

1/4x - x = 4 - 4

-3/4x = 0

x = 0

To check our work:

Plug in (0) for (x)

-1/4 (0 - 12) + 1/2 (0+2) = 4+ 0

-1/4 (-12) + 0 + 1 = 4

3+1=4

4=4

So, your answer is x=0

~Hope I helped!~
