Answer;
D. surface currents.
Explanation;
Winds blowing across the ocean surface cause friction which results in surface currents. Wind blows in certain patterns across the ocean moves water at the surface of the ocean and creates surface ocean currents.
Therefore the surfaces currents are caused by wind and the need to move around masses. The wind causes friction on the surface and pushing the water in the same direction as the wind.
The Coriolis effect refers to the rotation of the earth, this alters the wind current patterns.
Surface ocean currents are important as the help distribute heat around the planet, and they also influence the climate on earth.
