The slope formula for 2 given points is

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

where the values on the right hand side come from our points:

\begin{gathered} (x_1,y_1)=(-2,-5) \\ (x_2,y_2)=(4,1) \end{gathered}

By substituting these values into the slope formula, we get

m=(1-(-5))/(4-(-2))

which gives

\begin{gathered} m=(1+5)/(4+2) \\ m=(6)/(6) \\ m=1 \end{gathered}

therefore, the answer is 1
