A) x * y = 24
B) x + y = 13

A) y = 24 / x Substituting this into B)
B) x + 24 / x = 13
B) x^2 + 24 = 13x
B) x^2 -13x + 24 = 0
x = 10.772
y = 2.228

(Gee, usually these problems have integers for answers.)
