(2) president hoover’s reelection campaign was damaged.

They were just retired veterans demanding the money they felt they deserved.

Answer:

President Hoover´s reelection campaign was damaged.

Step-by-step explanation:

Herbert Hoover was the 31st president of the United States from 1929 to 1933.

The bonus army were marchers, included US veterans and their families who gathered in Washington D.C. in 1932 to demand payment for their services given during World War I. They had awarded them with bonuses in 1924 for their services but they were supposed to redeem them on 1945. Because of the Great Depression, many of the former fighters had no jobs and they demanded the immediate payment of the bonuses.

The Congress offered money to them to return home but a part of the marchers remained demanding the entire compensation of the bonuses. The Washington police attempt to disperse them, but they were outnumbered and they engage in combat with the marchers letting two of them died. President Hoover sent the U.S. Army forces to lead by General Douglas MacArthur, who believed was fighting a Communist revolution and clear out the camp with military force. The incident was embarrassing for the Hoover´s administration and destroyed the remaining chances he had to win the re-election.

I hope this answer helps you.
