remember you can do anything to an equaiton as long as you do it to both sides
4x=6x-14
minus 4x bothsides
4x-4x=6x-4x-14
0=2x-14
add 14 both sides
14+0=2x+14-14
14=2x+0
14=2x
divide both sides by 2
14/2=(2x)/2
7=(2/2)x
7=1x
7=x
x=7
