Answer : The value of x and y is, 4 and 1 respectively.

Step-by-step explanation :

The given equations are:

5x-2y=18 ..........(1)

3x+3y=15 ..........(2)

Using substitution method,

5x-2y=18

5x=18+2y

x=(18+2y)/(5) ...........(3)

Now putting equation 3 in 2, we get the value of y.

3x+3y=15

3((18+2y)/(5))+3y=15

((54+6y)/(5))+3y=15

54+6y+15y=75

6y+15y=75-54

21y=21

y=1

Now putting value of y in equation 3, we get the value of x.

x=(18+2y)/(5)

x=(18+2* 1)/(5)

x=(18+2)/(5)

x=4

Thus, the value of x and y is, 4 and 1 respectively.
