i) Rest time is given by:

rest=final\text{ time of rest}-initial\text{ time of rest}

Where:

Final time of rest = 13:15

Initial time of rest = 12:45

Therefore:

rest=13:15-12:45=30

Answer i) 30 minutes

ii) The distance traveled after the rest is given by:

distance=final\text{ distance-initial distance}

Where:

Final distance = 39 km

Initial distance = 18 km

So:

distance=39-18=21

Answer ii) 21 km
