The narrator talks about how someone's name does not match with whom he really is. Identity matters deal with anything that is related to the sense of self, selfhood or individual characteristic. One's beliefs, appearance, ethnicity, nationality, race, desires, and even one's name are all aspects of ourselves that can be taken into account when defining our identity.
