Y=3X+68.25

80=3X+68.25
Subtract 68.25 from both sides
11.75=3X

Divide

11.75/3=3.91

So he can afford 3 juice cartons

a)

68.25+3x<80

b)

subtract 68.25 from both sides of the inequality

3x<11.75 divide both sides by 3

x<47/12

Since x must be an integer, the greatest number of cartons that he can purchase is 3.
