You can start with the fact that you know they want to the equation for a line that is parallel. This means that the slope will have to be the same. So, the first part of your answer will be y = 2x. Now, you have to use the point that is given to write the rest of the equation. you can start by using point slope form since that is the easiest to just plug points and slope into.

Point slope form is : y - y1 = m (x - x1)
What you do to start is plug in the points and slope that you know. This specific example will look like:
y - 6 = 2 (x + 3)

**** Note: m is the variable representing slope. Also, Since the point for x is negative, it is minus a negative and that cancels out and becomes + 3. ****

Now you should put it in slope intercept form.

y - 6 = 2 (x + 3) → Distribute the 2 times x and 2 times 3
y - 6 = 2x + 6 → Now add add 6 to both sides to get y by itself.
y = 2x + 0
y = 2x → The 0 is not necessary to include.

Your final answer should be: y = 2x
