1. there were 136 students and 34 adults in the concert. if 85% of the seats were filled how many seats are in the auditorium?

2. 40% = 32/x

1. 136+34= 170 total concertgoers. If we divide 170 by 85, we get 2; so each percentage point equals 2. Multiply 2 by a hundred and you get 200 people in total

2. Is this question to solve for X? in that case, we can solve it easier in the form
(40)/(100) = (32)/(x)

then we try and dive them the same numerator by multiplying each by the other:
(12800)/(32000) = (12800)/(40x)

This tells us that
32000 = 40x

so
x=80.
