We have the equation as;


y\text{ = -5x + 38}

The general equation of a straight line is the form;


y\text{ = mx + b}

where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

From the equation given, the slope is -5

Mathematically, when two lines are parallel, the slope of the two lines are equal

So we have the slope of the second line as -5
