Knowing that a square has equal sides. And has four of them it makes finding the perimeter a little easier. since the perimeter totals 24 and there are 4 sides of equal length. then we can find the side length by dividing 24 by 4. 24/4=6

Then after drawing a sketch and labeling each side with a six, we draw a diagonal line through our square. This creates two right triangles. Using the 45- 45-90 property. since both adjacent sides of the triangle are 6 and we are trying to find the hypotenuse(diagonal line). the 45-45-90 triangle property states that what ever your two adjacent sides to the 90 is the hypotenuse is that with a square root two next to it. so in this case since our sides are 6 then are hypotenuse is
6√(2).
