Let the first number be x
and the second number be x+2
x+x+2=46
2x+2=46
2x=46-2
2x=44
Then, divide both sides by 2
x=22
x+2= 22+2=24
**the two numbers are 22 and 24
check:
2x+2=46
2(22)+2=46
44+2=46
46=46
