This week Leo worked (x + 6) hours at a pizzeria. He is paid (x − 6) dollars per hour. Leo's friend Frankie earned worked the same number of hours, but he is paid (x − 5) dollars per hour. Enter an expression for the total amount paid to the two workers. Then find the total amount if x = 12. The expression for the total amount paid is . The total amount paid to the two workers was $.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean by expression:
(x+6) + (x-6) = (x+6) + (x-5)

(12+6) + (12+6) = (12+6) + (12-5)
18 + 18 = 18 + 7
36 = 25

Leo= $36
Frankie= $25

I hope this is right...feel free to correct me!

Answer:

The expression is Total payment = (x + 6)(2x - 11)

Total amount paid = $243 at x = 12.

Explanation:

Leo worked for (x + 6) hours at pizzeria. He was paid (x - 6) dollars per hour.

Therefore payment to Leo = number of hours worked × rate of payment = (x + 6)(x - 6)

Similarly payment done to Leo's friend Frankie = (x + 6)×(x - 5) dollars

Total payment received by both = (x + 6)(x - 6) + (x + 6)(x - 5) = (x + 6)(x - 6 + x - 5) = (x + 6)(2x - 11)

If x = 12 then we have to find the total amount paid.

Total payment = (12 + 6)(2×12 - 11) = 18×13 = $234
