A quart of paint covers 80 square feet. How many quarts should you buy to paint the ramp with two coats? (Assume you will not paint the bottom of the ramp.)

Answer:

Explanation:

Alright, lets get started.

We first need to find the surface area of the ramp without its base.

The ramp consists 4 sides two triangles and two rectangles.

Area of 1 triangle =
(1)/(2)*14*6=42

Area of 2 triangle = 42

Area of top rectangle =
15.2*19.5=296.4

Area of back rectangle =
6*19.5=117

So total area =
42+42+296.4+117=497.4 square feet

We are asked to paint two coats of paint means we have to double the area.

So the double area is =
2*497.4=994.8

80 square feet requires = 1 quart of paint

994.8 square feet requires =
(994.8)/(80)=12.435

12.4 quart can't be purchased so complete number of quart will be 13 quart. : Answer

Hope it will help :)
