First, write the number of meat pies in the form of a fraction with the denominator of 2 to separate it into halves.
5/1 = 10/2
There are 10 halves.
If 6 people each eat 1 half, this can be shown by 10/2 - 6/2, which equals 4/2.
So there are 4 halves remaining.
If the friends want to share them equally, they'll need to each eat less than a half. This is because there are 6 people and only 2 meat pies left.
To find how much each person can eat, divide the number of meat pies by the number of people.
2 / 6 = 0.33, or 1/3.
So each person can eat 1/3 of the remaining meat pies to share it equally.
