Steve's mom gave him $20.00 on Monday morning to use on lunches. At his school, the school lunch costs $1.75, which he bought Monday through Thursday. On Friday, he decided to buy 2 slices of pizza instead of buying the school lunch. If the pizza costs $1.40 per slice, then how much of the money is left at the end of the school week?

Answer:

$8.40. is left in his account.

Explanation:

If you do 1.50x4 you get 6. Why you would do this is because he bought a 1.50 dollar lunch Mon-Thurs. (4 days) So 1.50x 4=6

Then you add up how much he spent on Friday. Since he got 4 pieces of pizza on friday and they were 1.40 each that means 1.40x4 which is 5.6.

Then, add up the total that he spent and you get 11.60.

Then subtract 11.60 from 20 (the total) and you get 8.40 dollars.

Hope this helps!!
