Last question I need help with!

Start with the line such as: 5x +7y = 12 (note: your teacher may change the equation)
● Write an equation in slope- intercept form of a line parallel to this line that goes through the point (5,2)
● Write an equation of a line slope- intercept form perpendicular to this line that goes through the point (5,2)

paralell ines have same slope
perpendicular lines have slopes that multiply to -1

y=mx+b is slope intercept
m=slope
b is irrelivant for this problem

solve for y first
5x+7y=12
7y=-5x+12
y=-5/7x+12/7

paralell is same slopoe but differnt b
y=-5/7x+b
sub (5,2)
(x,y)
2=-5/7(5)+b
2=-25/7+b
29/7=b
y=-5/7x+29/7

perpendcular
-5/7 times what=-1
what=7/5
y=7/5x+b
(5,2)
2=7/5(5)+b
2=7+b
-5=b
y=7/5x-5
