Why did economic turmoil throughout europe and asia cause conflict between the united states and the soviet union in the immediate postwar period?

During a war in Asia the United States and the Soviet Union took different sides. This different stand in alliances pushed them to a Cold War. Both countries were not involved in a direct war instead its all about dominating international influence.
