The life process by which plants provide energy to animals is nutrition. Plants are nutritionally autotrophs. They synthesized their food through a process called photosynthesis. In this process, plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to produce glucose and oxygen is released as by-product. The glucose is stored as starch in plants. Animals eat plants to get energy as they are heterotrophs and cannot make their food.
