We have to calculate the volume of the pyramid.

It will be equal to one third of the area of the base times the height, being the height the distance between the base and the vertex that is not part of the base.

The base then is the right triangle with legs 8 and 14 inches.

The height is 17 inches.

Then, we can calculate the volume as:

\begin{gathered} V=(1)/(3)A_bh \\ V=(1)/(3)((8\cdot14)/(2))17 \\ V=(1904)/(6) \\ V\approx317.33\text{ }in^3 \end{gathered}

Answer: the volume is 317.33 in³
