Describe the relationship between ATP and ADP and the importance of this relationship within a cell.

ATP consists of 3 phosphate groups while ADP only consists of 2. ATP is like a charged battery and ADP is like an uncharged battery. This allows for a phosphate group to be added to ADP to form ATP and charge the cells functions.
