Janie receives an allowance of $ 3 per week. In addition, she can earn $ 2 for each chore she does. This week, she wants to earn enough money to buy a CD for $13. Janie can do fractions of chores. Write an inequality to determine the number of chores, c, Janie must do this week to earn enough money to buy a CD.

$3 per week.
$2 per chore.

Janie needs to get $13 by the end of the week.

We're first going to subtract 3 from 13 to make the cost equal because we know 2 can only go into equal numbers.
13 - 3 = 10.

Now that we have a equal number, we'll divide 10 by 2.
10 / 2 = 5.

Now we have 5 as our number, that will be how many chores she will have to do.

Janie will have to do 5 chores to get $13.

Hope this helps!~

2c + 3 > = 13
2c > = 13 - 3
2c > = 10
c > = 10/2
c > = 5......so she has to do at least 5 chores
