The population of a city has increased by 35% since it was last measured. If the current population is 91,800 , what was the previous population?

Let the initial population = P
increase in population = 35%
35% of P = 35/100 P = 0.35P

P + 0.35P = 91800
1.35P = 91800
P = 91800/1.35
P = 68,000

Previous population was 68,000
