We need to make the diameter in half so we can square it. So 10.5 divided by 2 is 5.25. Now we square 5.25, the radius to get 27.56 (rounded). After we square the radius, we multiply by 3.14. So 27.56 times 3.14 is 86.5 square units. (rounded).
