Given : a tree in your yard that is 60 inches around

60 inches represents the circumference of the tree

The circumference =

\pi\cdot d

Where d is the diameter of the tree

so,

\begin{gathered} \pi\cdot d=60 \\ \\ d=(60)/(\pi)\approx19.1 \end{gathered}

So, the answer is : the diameter of the tree is a bout 19.1 inches
