The answer is 1:15. I know how to solve it but its kinda hard to explain. I just add 8:45 + 4:30 and I got 12:75, but you know that you can't have over 60 minutes in an hour so 75 - 60 = 15. So, you know that there are 15 minutes and you have to add one more hour from the other 60 minutes, so 12 + 1 = 13 but in time that's 1:00. Add the 15 minutes and you get?... 1:15

I hope that helps! ;)

Since he started at 8:45 and ended 4 and 1/2 hours later, count 4 hours later (12:45), and then add the 30 minutes. 1:15 p.m. is your answer.

Hope this helps!! :)
