Why were the colonist so angry over the tea act

They didn't like the fact that England was taxing their tea and setting the price of it. America saw themselves even then as separate from England, and so this show of authority didn't sit well with their independent attitude.

The tea act was the taxing of basic needs for the colonists and also luxuries such as tea, this act forces the colonists to pay more for the goods being imported.
