A discrete random variable X has a countable number of possible values. Example: Let X represent the sum of two dice. To graph the probability distribution of a discrete random variable, construct a probability histogram. A continuous random variable X takes all values in a given interval of numbers.

Answer and explanation:

Discrete random variables are those variables that take only countable number. It has countable number of possible values.

Continuous random variables are those variables that take intervals i.e. any value lie beteween two specified values rather than an exact number. It means it can take so many values with in the interval.
