You'd know where the clock hands point because the small hand represents the hours. And the large hand represents the minutes, which counts by 5. Since the small hand is on two that gives you 2 hours. And the large hand; its on 10, you'd multiply it by 5, which gives you 50 minutes. In digital form, its written like this : 2:50.

we clearly know they are pointing at 2 hours by looking at the hour hand which is the smaller hand of a clock.......

we can clearly see that they are pointing at 50 minutes by looking at the minute hand which is longer than the hour hand.
