The normal gasoline mileage of a car is 48 mpg. On a smooth road, the cars mileage is 12% higher. What is its mileage on a smooth road? Round your answer to the tenths place.

On a smooth road car's mileage is 12% higher. Then we have to calculate the mileage of car on smooth road.

By the statement of the question mileage of the car on smooth road = Normal gasoline mileage + 12% of normal gasoline mileage

= 48 + 12% of 48

=
48+((12)/(100))(48)

= 48 + 12×0.48

= 48 + 5.76

= 53.76

≈ 53.8 mpg

Answer is mileage of car on smooth road will be 53.8 mpg
